I had the pleasure of being invited to sew the Small Fry Skinny Jeans for the tour, and I simply cannot say enough good things about this pattern! The shape and fit of the jeans are fabulous, and the instructions are incredibly thorough. While not a quick sew, these jeans are totally worth the time for such a great result!
I used some lightweight lavender denim I purchased in January in Los Angeles. I used hot pink topstitching thread because…I had it. I was worried it might look a little crazytown, but the effect was really awesome.
The little scallops on the back pockets were a fun effect thanks to my trusty Janome. I didn’t do any other customizations though I’d love to try Lexi’s side zippers when I make these again!
Now, for a little confession…and a cautionary tale. I didn’t measure my 2″x2″ test square on the pattern before I cut my pattern out. I never have scaling issues with my printer, so I always skip this step.
BUT! For whatever reason, I didn’t realize until these babies were completely sewn up that my 2″x2″ square was actually 1 7/8″x1 7/8″. So, this pair of jeans is a bit too small for Harper in the waist. This was absolutely my fault and in no way a problem with the pattern!
I have several more pieces of fun, colorful denim from L.A., so I can’t wait to sew these up…THE RIGHT SIZE.
