When I was a little girl, my mother and stepfather employed two seamstresses at our family dry-cleaning business. I spent countless hours digging through their boxes of fabric scraps and buttons. In fact, they had so many buttons in one big box that I could fully immerse both my arms in them – all the way up to my neck! One of my designated “jobs” around the cleaners was to dig through that big box of buttons and find replacements for those damaged in the presses.
To this day, I still love buttons: old buttons, new buttons, covered buttons, plastic buttons, fancy buttons, plain buttons, horn buttons, mother-of-pearl buttons, plastic buttons, YOU-NAME-IT buttons. That’s why I was so happy to find a bag of vintage buttons at ThriftTown on 33rd South in Salt Lake City. I haven’t figured out what to use these for yet (this is just a small sampling of the set), but I’ll be sure to share when I do!
