Well. I’ve been sewing up a little tornado over here, but despite my best efforts to sew at least one of each of the items included in Perfect Pattern Parcel #2, I only managed three. I’ll certainly be making the rest in the next few weeks because…well…let’s face it – this parcel was AWESOME. Just look at all the fab patterns included:
Hanami Top or Dress by Straight Grain
Hosh Pants by LoubeeClothing
Celestial Tee by Figgy’s
September Tunic & Dress by Too Sweets Patterns
Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations
BONUS pattern:
Prefontaine Shorts by Made With Moxie
When I first got the list of patterns included, I actually thought I was least likely to make the Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations. It’s not that I didn’t like the dress (I love it! And I love the designer, Hayley!), it’s just that I didn’t think it would be that practical for Harper. Plus, to be honest, I have never sewn an invisible zipper. I wasn’t really intimidated, but I wasn’t in the mood to learn a new skill. But look!
I did it! When I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics last week and saw this white linen with a subtle, metallic floral on it, I knew it had to become a Caroline. So here you have it – Harper’s first proper dress. We aren’t churchgoers here, so I see this dress on lots of trips to Home Depot and the playground. She loves it, and I love that. I’m sure there are more Carolines in her future.
I sewed the pattern exactly as written for a size 2T. The fit was perfect, and the instructions were very thorough and easy-to-follow. I loved that it was quick and easy-to-make even though it had the invisible zipper and a full lining. Perfection.
Harper wore this dress all over town on Tuesday, and she just adores it. She has been all about fingernail polish and hairbows and lip gloss lately, so we may be headed for one of those dresses-only phases… (One can only hope, right? She is so adorable in dresses!)
Have you gotten your Perfect Pattern Parcel #2 yet? No? Well now’s the time – there’s only a week left! And all the profits from this parcel are split between the designers and Donor’s Choice:
Donors Choose is an organization that matches up the needs of teachers and their students for specific projects with willing donors. The funds raised from each Pattern Parcel sale will go to help K-12 students in minimizing educational inequality and encourage a community where children have the tools and experiences necessary for an excellent education.
Pretty awesome, right? We love these patterns!
